Eye-Fi … wi-fi for your camera

One of our printing partners alerted us to a handy new photography device – the Eye-Fi Card.

It’s a wireless memory card for your digital camera that stores photos and videos, like standard SD memory cards. But, it also makes your camera wireless.

With built-in Wi-Fi, you can transfer photos and video directly from your camera to iPhoto, Flickr or a holder on your computer – without cables or hassle.

Michael Dinsio at Hopkins Printing says it’s easily the coolest memory card they’ve used.

Check it out here.

I saw this device at the store a few weeks ago too. Looks cool, but I wonder how many seconds time it shaves of the process from connecting the USB cable to your camera or removing the card to put into the slot. Is it really worth it?

Hi Mig,
Thanks for your comment.

I don’t personally have one yet, but what I liked about it was the outdoor range, 90+ft.

At a recent graduation party, we used it to automatically upload photos straight from the camera to the computer and on to Flickr. For $59.00, I guess it depends on how much you use it, but friends who didn’t make the party (1 is overseas) could view photos while the party was still going on. And we didn’t have to stop to connect anything. As far as the time it takes? I don’t know, we were enjoying the party!
